Head, swirling around my head this week. The random things I read/thought/heard about this week in no particular order or importance. I have not been focused on any one thing so this week is completely random. I think swirling should be random, don’t you?

  1. I have never been married. I have several friends who have not taken that path either. I also have friends who are divorced and have no intention of remarrying. It is an interesting conversation. I am just glad that marital status does not negatively define us. I should not define us at all. We should be the ones who determine our definitions.
  2. Continuing on the marriage vein, many of my 50+andfab women friends have gotten married in the last year. The majority of them have taken their husbands’ last names. Some did because they were still using the name of their ex-husbands. Others did it as a sign of solidarity and commitment to their marriage.
  3. Should your company assist you with your fertility plans? Would you feel comfortable discussing your plans to freeze your eggs? Is it a conspiracy to stall women into postponing having children so that they can work longer without fear of their biological clock alarming? Probably not, right?
  4. We need more African American men teachers. I do not remember every having one. And the few I know are at the college level. I am glad there are programs attract them into elementary school where they can become positive role models for those in need.
  5. I am not sure how many colleges and universities there are in this country, but having 85 of them under federal investigation for sexual assault is not good. It also makes me wonder how many others should be.

This is what has been swirling around my head this week.
