Today I am reviewing the Skirt Sports Gym Girl Ultra STYLE #: 1017 running skirt by Skirt Sports. I was a bit hesitant to try it because my past experiences with running skirts have not been the best. I have had the shorts ride up into places that shorts do not belong and where I could not adjust in public. Shorts that ride up make running extremely uncomfortable and it causes chafing as well as embarrassment.
I took this skirt out on a 10-mile run. Yes, I know that wearing new clothes on a long run may not be the smartest thing to do, but when I run at 5am I grab the first thing I can see and just hope that it matches. Especially when I don’t pick clothes out the night before or when I look at the Weather Channel and the weather is not what I thought it was.
Today was one of those days. I thought it was going to be 50 something degrees and it turned out to be 72 degrees. I needed to wear something much lighter than my capris. So I put on the skirt at the last minute. It felt comfortable when I pulled it on. The waistband did not dig into my skin and I did not feel like a sausage stuffed inside a casing.
Running was easy, well as easy as running 10 miles can be and the shorts stayed in place. I did not even think about them while running at all. The neat thing is that the shorts are lightly compression that fit over my entire thigh. It did not cut off at a random spot. The inseam is 5” inseam. I did not chafe and they were not so tight that I thought my circulation would be cut of. They were very comfortable. The added bonus is the pocket on each thigh.
I love the fact that this skirt is long. Okay, maybe not long but certainly longer. The size medium skirt is 13.5 inches in front; 14.5 inches in back. So women with fuller assets in the back, this skirt has you well covered. None of my ‘stuff’ showed.
Also important is that the material wicked away my perspiration, which is a major feat because I sweat A LOT. The under skirt liner is made of 100% polyester that allows for extra moisture control. And for those who run with music there is a music port on right side just under waistband for media player cord management.
I cannot ignore the fact that the skirt is cute so I definitely give it five high fives.

Hi. Can I ask you a quick question? I would love to wear a skirt but I have to pick my shorts really carefully due to chafing and I’ve not been confident in any of the shorts that go under running skirts! Did the compression shorts underneath really not ride up? That’s amazing if not. Do you often have chafing issues or not usually? Sorry for the slightly saucy questions, i’m just hopeful I’ve found a skirt I could wear!
I promise you, THE SHORTS DID NOT TIDE UP! Yes, I have chafing issues. I used a ton of Body Glide. I ran 10 miles and did not even think abtout the shorts.
Impressive! Thanks for the info!
You are welcome. If you get one, let me know how you liked it.
I also tried the Brooks shorts (I bought them myself and not for the review). I was leery at first because shorts usuually ride up on me in a minute. I loved these. The waist band is flat, elastic does not bunch up and there is no drawstring.
I bought two pair!
